“Tackle Your Health” with former NFL lineman David Carter, the 300lb Vegan, at Meatout 2016 on Saturday, March 19th, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the DeSoto Civic Center, 211 E. Pleasant Run, DeSoto 75115. The Black Vegetarian Society of Texas (BVSTX) presents this festival, along with co-sponsor, the City of DeSoto.

Carter, the event keynote speaker, who adopted a vegan diet while still an active NFL player and who is also a humanitarian and animal rights activist, will present “The Benefits of a Vegan Diet on Men’s Health.” He is a graduate of UCLA and is currently an NFL free agent. David and his wife Paige co-founded “The 300lb Vegan,” a healthy lifestyle program.

"Converting to a whole foods plant-based lifestyle was the best decision I could have ever made for my body, mind, and spirit.” Carter says. “The average life span of a professional football player is only fifty-six (due to extreme consumption of animal products which leads to heart disease, stroke, cancers, and other chronic illnesses). By making this one small change not only have I saved my own life but the countless lives of voiceless and defenseless animals everywhere.”

Along with Carter, the festival will include dynamic speakers, cooking and fitness demonstrations, food sampling, health screenings, cruelty-free exhibitors, children’s activities, and giveaways. “Meatout 2016 is a wonderful opportunity to sample delicious plant based food, get your questions answered and broaden your knowledge base about the vegan lifestyle,” says Sherri Doucette, BVSTX President.

“Moreover, you’ll learn to make healthy and compassionate dietary choices that will last a lifetime and benefit generations.”
